Aos seis anos, Ruby Bridges avançou na causa dos direitos civis em novembro de 1960, quando se tornou a primeira estudante afro-americana a integrar uma escola primária no Sul (Nova Orleans). Ativista de longa data pela igualdade racial, em 1999, Ruby criou a The Ruby Bridges Foundation para promover a tolerância e criar mudanças através da educação. Em 2000, ela foi nomeada vice-marechal honorária em uma cerimônia em Washington, DC.

The following arts cover the story of a black personality who marked our society both in Brazil and around the world. At age six, Ruby Bridges advanced the cause of civil rights in November 1960 when she became the first African-American student to integrate an elementary school in the South (New Orleans). A longtime activist for racial equality, in 1999, Ruby created The Ruby Bridges Foundation to promote tolerance and create change through education. In 2000, she was named an honorary deputy marshal at a ceremony in Washington, DC.
